Kim Jun Tae received his Ph.D. in Korean Philosophy from Sungkyunkwan University and after working at the university’s Institute of Eastern Philosophy and Culture, he has been conducting research at the Institute of Korean Philosophy and Humanities, focusing on the philosophies and political thought of East Asia with Korea at the center. Moving between fieldwork and academia, he has accumulated diverse experience and has delivered numerous lectures, including for CreativeTV at the Hyundai Research Institute as well as for various corporations. He is currently a senior research fellow at the Institute of Korean Philosophy and Humanities at Sungkyunkwan University.

His academic papers include “A Study on the Neo-Confucian Thought and Statecraft Theory of Jo Ik, a Disciple of Pojeo (Hui-dong)”, “A Study on King Jeongjo’s Political Thought,” “A Study on the Theory of Adaptive Strategy (Gwondo),” and “A Study on the Theory of Withdrawal from Office (Chulcheo).”

His books include The King’s Management, The Qualities of a Monarch, The Excellent Mediators, Do Not Call Upon the Gods Again, Forty: A Time to Meet History, The King’s Study, Joseon’s Crisis Response Notes, The Wealthy of Joseon, and When the King Desperately Asked and the Minister Responded with His Life on the Line.

He is a writer who seeks practical wisdom for life today from history—stories we often regard as distant and bygone. Believing that the essence of human nature and human society does not change even as the times do, he writes to connect the past with the present.
