Park Kwon-il is a media sociologist (Ph.D. in Journalism) and social critic. He began his career as a reporter for the monthly magazine Mal and later served at the Government Information Agency, where he contributed to Five Years of the Participatory Government's Economy. In 2007, he introduced the concept of the '880,000-won Generation,' bringing national attention to the precarious lives of young people. In 2012, he received the Human Rights Award (General Category) from the Korea Human Rights Foundation for his column collection Minority Opinion. His book Meritocracy in Korea won the Main Prize at the 5th Lotte Publishing Culture Awards in 2022. His other works include We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For, Festival and Exhaustion, and The Far Right Here and Now (co-authored).
